HERA: Learner Tracking in a Virtual Environment

their activities (tasks and errors) in a list form. I. INTRODUCTION Direct training in the industrial sector, i.e. experimentations and learning in situ, particularly at high-risk sites (SEVESO sites), is not feasible for many obvious reasons, especially safety. Virtual environments for learning are increasingly seen as promising alternatives to train learners safely without facing or producing any dangers. Like simulation, VET/L enables overcoming risks and constraints of carrying out training in situ. Generic potentials of VR for training and learning have been discussed by Lourdeaux (2003) [18], and more specifically in the area of safety in [5], and can be summarized as follows:

Target Tracking Based on Virtual Grid in Wireless Sensor Networks
One of the most important and typical application of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is target tracking. Although target tracking, can provide benefits for large-scale WSNs and organize them into clusters but tracking a moving target in cluster-based WSNs suffers a boundary problem. The main goal of this paper was to introduce an efficient and novel mobility management protocol namely Target Tr...
متن کاملLearning Analytics for Learner Awareness in Remote Laboratories Dedicated to Computer Education
This paper addresses learning analytics for learner awareness in remote laboratories. The objectives we identified to provide selfand social awareness while learners are practicing in their virtual learning environment are threefold: (1) the definition of a performance metric that requires no assessment tests, (2) the tracking of data to infer that metric in real time, (3) the visualization of ...
متن کاملRanger { a Pattern Recognition Algorithm for the Hera-b Main Tracking System Part I: the Hera-b Pattern Tracker
A pattern recognition strategy for the HERA-B main tracking system is presented. A concurrent track evolution algorithm has been developed to select the optimal track candidate compatible with a seed. Intrinsically a local method, it combines the virtues of track following procedures with the necessary ability to optimize between many available paths in a high occupancy environment. The problem...

A tracking algorithm based on the Concurrent Track Evolution method has been developed to propagate track candidates which have been found in the main tracking system between vertex detector and RICH into the \trigger chamber" area between RICH and electromagnetic calorimeter. The performance of the method is tested on HERA-B Monte Carlo events with full detector simulation and in the framework...

A method for reconstructing tracks in the inhomogeneous magnetic eld of the HERA-B spectrometer has been developed. It is based on an extension of the Concurrent Track Evolution method, which was originally introduced for pattern recognition in the pattern tracker 1]. The method uses now three-dimensional propagation, with special measures necessary to achieve fast transport in the presence of ...
